Science is for everyone.

I believe science should be accessible to everyone. Science isn't always communicated well which is why I strive to be a good communicator so scientists and nonscientists alike can know all the cool discoveries going on in my field without all the crazy jargon. My main forms of science communication are through my Twitter threads and the shark podcast I co-host called Sharkpedia.  I often give talks at schools, conferences, and STEM youth programs and participate in panels in the hopes that someone may learn at least one cool shark fact from me. Below are some of my favorite articles and talks available online.
I am available for invited talks/seminars, panels, podcasts, and interviews upon request. I am currently only taking a limited number of unpaid opportunities.

The Sharkpedia Podcast

Picture
In May 2021, my friend Meghan Holst and I started the Sharkpedia Podcast. We started this podcast because even as PhD students, we struggle to read scientific research papers and understand what is going on in them. Each episode we invite the authors of shark related research papers to come on and talk about their research without all the scientific jargon.  Our hope with the podcast is to make scientific papers more understandable through the use of more common words and further explanations so that both us and our listeners can better understand current and interesting research about sharks. You can listen on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Anchor, and more music streaming services.

Some of my favorite episodes:
Shark Noses with Dr. Lauren Simonitis
Triennial Migration of Soupfin Sharks with Dr. Andrew Nosal
Cookiecutter shark diets with Dr. Aaron Carlisle
